Latex waspies are also known as waist cinchers and short corsets. Waspies range in design from a wide belt that pulls in, or cinches, the waist tightly, to extensive garments that extend from just below the bust to just above the pubic triangle. Narrow waspies were often called belt corsets. Many waspies also incorporate suspender clips. The waspie has been in use for many years, but was probably at it's height from about 1947 to 1955. It was quite common for a waspie to be worn over a girdle to increase waist cinching. Many celebrities of the early 50s wore waspies in conjunction with bullet bras to give the classic sweater girl look of a very small waist and firm pointed breasts. This makes the waspie a firm favourite with people interested in the burlesque or vintage lingerie scene.
Like the corset, many conventional waspies employ boning to maintain shape, but rarely employ metal boning, so the degree of waist cinching is less. Our latex waspie uses the stretch property of natural latex rubber to provide waist compression. Our rubber rapture latex waspie has a v-front design that encloses the pubic triangle. Four suspender drops allow the wearing of stockings.
